Two in two: ID. Buzz 7-Seat wins second prestigious industry award in as many days
This marks a third consecutive year that a vehicle in Volkswagen’s all-electric ID. Buzz line-up has won the What Car? ‘MPV’ award. This time, going to the newly-launched 7-Seat variant, judges praised the vehicle’s range, versatility and impressive spaciousness.
The extra space afforded by the longer wheelbase allows for a larger 86kWh battery in the 7-Seat variant, for an even greater all-electric range than the standard wheelbase of up to 291 miles.1
Commended for its versatility, the vehicle’s spacious and configurable interior is an essential criterion of any MPV. Built on Volkswagen’s MEB platform, the ID. Buzz 7-Seat provides stable handling and car-like maneuvrability compared to its van-based rivals, despite being close to five metres long.
Steve Huntingford, Editor at What Car?, said: “The Volkswagen ID. Buzz is a former What Car? Car of the Year, but it’s even more versatile in the new long-wheelbase form. There’s room for taller adults no matter which seat you’re in, as well as the kind of boot space you’d normally expect to find in a van. Plus, thanks to its larger battery, the range should still be more than enough for most buyers.”
John Ricardo-Neto, Head of Product Planning, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, commented: "This has been quite the week for our ID. Buzz 7-Seat, taking home two ‘MPV’ awards from across the car and LCV sectors. We’re delighted to retain the What Car? Van and Commercial Vehicles ‘Best Van-based MPV’ title for a third year running, and particularly pleased to see the 7-Seater praised for its versatility and practicality for everyday use.”
