The Golf 8 R Estate is finally here, and it doesn't disappoint...

With 320ps and 420Nm of torque, the new Golf R Estate is the most powerful and most dynamic Golf Estate to date! The standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive with unique R Performance Torque Vectoring is powered by a 2.0 TSI engine and R-specific 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

The optional R Performance package includes 19-inch wheels and two additional driving modes: Special and Drift. A host of assist systems and the latest infotainment system guarantees more safety, comfort and convenience. As well as sporty, the Golf R estate retains all the much-loved characteristics of a Golf Estate... a comfortable, leisure-oriented and family-friendly estate car ready for all elements of life.

Sportiest Golf Estate ever with a number of R-specific elements

New to the MK8 Golf R Estate is the R-specific rear bumper with diffuser painted in high gloss black as well as the sports exhaust system boasting two chrome-plated twin tailpipes. There's three colours to choose from: R-famous Lapiz Blue Metallic, Pure White and Deep Black Pearl Effect.

Just like the new Golf 8 R, the R Estate comes with the newly developed 4MOTION all-wheel drive with R Performance Torque Vectoring with selective wheel torque control on the rear axle. This distributes the power not just between the front and rear axles as needed, but also between the rear wheels. The result? Very precise and neutral handling, optimum traction characteristics and exceptional agility. 

Two new driving profiles: Special & Drift

In the optional R Performance package, the powerful estate now comes with two additional driving profiles. In the Special profile, all key drive system parameters have been configured for demanding race tracks. The Drift profile opens up a whole new level of driving dynamics to make drifting, away from public roads, much safer and more fun. Four driving profiles come as standard: Comfort, Sport, Race and Individual and can be selected with a press of a button.

A true R model inside too

The new multifunction sports leather steering wheel and premium front sports seats are fitted as standard in the new Golf R Estate, as well as integrated head restraints sporting the R logos in blue. Seat centre panels are covered with the fabric seat covers 'R' in black-blue, and inner side of the seat cushion bolsters is made of ArtVelours microfleece in Flint Grey. Nappa Leather can also be ordered as an optional extra.

The driver controls have been almost completely redesigned - touch buttons, touch sliders and touch screens replace the functions of classic controls and analogue displays. The R-specific Digital Cockpit Pro features new, horizontal engine speed display as well as a lap timer. You can also operate the vehicle with the new, natural, learning voice control.
