With two body lengths and spacious sleeping quarters for two, the new Caddy California is the ideal companion for your camping trips. It comes with a comfort bed, a slide-out kitchenette, two folding chairs and a folding table, with storage under the bed for bags and shoes. Choose from two 2.0 litre TDI engines producing 102PS and 122PS or go for a 1.5 TSI that produces 114PS. The 122PS 2.0 TDI and 1.5 TSI engines are offered with a 7-speed DSG transmission for smooth, easy driving. It’s also great for towing a trailer or caravan, with a 1,400kg braked tow capacity and optional Trailer Assist with parking sensors. Standard kit includes an 8.25” touchscreen with App Connect, cruise control, Lane Assist, Front Assist with Pedestrian Monitoring and City Emergency Braking System, Climatic air conditioning and an electronic parking brake with auto hold function. Optionally, you can add LED headlights, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change System with Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Traffic Alert, Discover Pro navigation with a 10” touchscreen, and a 10” Digital Cockpit. Design

The Caddy California looks the part with 16” alloy wheels (up to 18” optionally), black door mirrors, twin sliding side doors and black roof rails. Inside, the spacious cabin has an electric parking brake, electric windows and an 8.25” touchscreen.

Drive

All versions are efficient, with the 1.5 TSI 114PS DSG returning up to 41.5mpg combined, and the 2.0 TDI 122PS DSG up to 53.3mpg combined (SWB). The smooth drive is backed by handy assistance systems like cruise control and Lane Assist.

Practicality

The short wheelbase has a 191-litre boot with all seats in place, growing to 446-litres in the Maxi version. The second row is split/folding and removable, with ISOFIX points on the rear outer seats. You also get magnetic window blinds.

Living with it

The Caddy California has everything you need for camping, including a bed (1,980 mm x 1,070 mm), a mini-kitchen with a single burner cooker with integrated gas bottle, a folding table on the front seat backrests and two folding chairs.
